At 38 years of age, Norwegian veteran Håvard Klemetsen has decided that it’s time to hang up his skis. “At age 38, I have realised that it is maybe time to get a proper job and start to collect more pension points”, Klemetsen is quoted on nrk.no. 

“I am privileged that I can look back on my Nordic Combined career with pride and I feel glad that I was able to experience so many highlights during my time. I have two kids and a girlfriend who I’d like to prioritise more now. I am looking forward to being less egoistic and not always be the one who comes first and who all the family has to plan around”, Klemetsen continued.

“The biggest thank you goes to my girlfriend Mariela and my parents Lasse and Vesla, who have always been there for me, through thick and thin.”

Klemetsen had his first World Cup start in Oberhof in 2003 and can look back on a total of 220 starts. He won one event in Lillehammer in 2011 and collected a team gold medal in Sochi 2014 and one gold, two silver and four bronze medals in Team and Team Sprint events at the World Championships in Oberstdorf, Sapporo, Oslo, Val di Fiemme and Falun.
