While Europe is currently facing the hottest week of the year, Race Organisers of the Carezza World Cup are already setting the course for another great World Cup opening in South Tyrol slated to take place on December 14, 2017.

It will be the seventh consecutive year, that the world's best raceboarders will meet at the foot of Latemar and the sixth time that a new alpine snowboard World Cup season will kick off with a parallel giant slalom on Pra di Tori slope.

While the Local OC has gained a lot of experience over the past years, the team led by Andreas Obkircher is currently trying to step up its game by getting the World Cup opening recognised as “Green Event”.

“Our goal is to go without plastic, reduce the waste in total, save energy and to support the arrival with public transport systems,” explains Maria Gufler on behalf of the Organising Committee.

In edition, Organisers are also willing to cultivate the cooperation with local schools and to foster their projects with regard to the World Cup event.

While things are underway to meet the requirements of an official “Green Event”, the next step in the lead-up to the 2017-18 season's first head-to-head duels is just around the corner.

On June 28 and therefore less than half a year prior to the World Cup race, Local Organisers will meet with FIS Race Director Uwe Beier and further international sports officials to talk about course length and schedule of the event.
