Andreas Wellinger sidelined for a few weeks

Andreas Wellinger is suffering from knee problems since the opening event of the FIS Grand Prix 2017 in Wisla (POL) last week and will, therefore, be sidelined for a couple of weeks.

"In Wisla I realized that there is a hurting in my knee. Our doc diagnosed a low-grade inflammation and we decided to take a break from competitions for three weeks. That's why my training will be focused on therapeutic workouts for some time", the 21-year-old writes on Instagram.

This means that the local hero will not be able to take part in the next Grand Prix event in Hinterzarten on July 29th. "I'm really sad about the fact, that I have to skip the competition in Hinterzarten - it's always special to jump in your home country. Looking at the new season I want to improve the feeling during training to be back in a good shape."

Andreas Wellinger started this year's summer season with a third place in the team event and a 19th place in the individual competition in Wisla last Friday and Saturday.
