Stefan Kraft: "I want to be on top again"

With four medals, including gold in both individual competitions, at the World Championships in Lahti (FIN) and the overall World Cup title, Stefan Kraft was the highflyer of last winter. His goal for the upcoming season is now to confirm these great performances.

"I want to be on top again. The summer couldn't have gone any better for me. I feel top fit and I know that I have been working well", the Austrian is quoted on orf.at.

The 24-year-old proved his currently good shape most recently with a win and a second place in the Continental Cup in Stams (AUT) about two weeks ago. In the two FIS Grand Prix competitions he participated in this summer, he finished 14th (Hinterzarten) and 10th (Courchevel).

Besides defending his title in the overall World Cup and the 4-Hills-Tournament, the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang are obviously the main goal for him in the upcoming winter season. "When it gets tough, I always think that I do this for an Olympic medal. I'm looking forward to this event. I like the hills and I want to be among the best there", said Kraft, who hasn't competed in Olympic Games yet.

A positive sign for him might be his performance in the World Cup premiere in PyeongChang last February: Back then Stefan Kraft won the large hill event and came in second in the normal hill competition.
