Michael Hayboeck will not compete in Titisee-Neustadt

Michael Hayboeck of Austria will not compete in the next two World Cup competitions in Titisee-Neustadt (GER) this weekend.

After the 26-year-old was named to the team of head coach Heinz Kuttin for the World Cup in the Black Forest earlier this week, the decision that he will travel to Lillehammer (NOR) for a training camp instead was made after a training session in Planica (SLO) on Wednesday.

Michael Hayboeck suffered an ankle injury shortly before the start of the season during a training camp in Cyprus. Therefore he still has a deficit in training and is struggling with the consistency of his jumps. That's what he now wants to continue working on in Norway after a short break.

"After his ligament tear, we knew that Michael will not be at 100 % for the World Cup opener. Our hope was that he will be able to find his rhythm in the first competitions and that he can get closer to the optimum step by step. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. Now we decided that a few additional training days will be good for him with regard to the rest of the season", explained Heinz Kuttin.

The Austrian team for Titisee-Neustadt will now only consist of Stefan Kraft, Manuel Fettner, Daniel Huber, Gregor Schlierenzauer, Manuel Poppinger and Clemens Aigner. No seventh athlete was named to the team to replace Michael Hayboeck.
