Marit Bjoergen retires

Norway's Cross-Country Skiing legend Marit Bjoergen has decided to retire from skiing.

"This process has been going on during the last year, and I have known throughout the season that enough is enough," Marite Bjoergen wrote in an official press release published on the Norwegian Ski Association website

During her long and successul career Bjoergen won 114 individual World Cups, claimed 184 World Cup podiums, won 18 geld medals and 26 medals in total at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and whopping 15 medals, out of which 8 were gold, at the Olympic Winter Games.

"I'm proud of what I've achieved in my career, but I've also been privileged to have been able to win top-level sports. I am very much thankful to amazing team friends, teammates, coaches, medical team, service team, managers and the whole support crew that have been around me. You have a great deal of credit for my results," Bjoergen said in her release.

We are thankful for the memories and we wish Marit all the best in her future endeavours.
