Nicoll waves good-bye

While the most teams are already have been starting their preparations for next winter, one long-time member of the World Cup circuit has meanwhile announced her career's end: after some 20 years of doing what she loved the most on a competitive level, Mercedes Nicoll (CAN) has called it a day.

The Whistler resident entered her first World Cup back in 1999 and therefore a few years before 2018 Olympic Halfpipe Gold medallist Chloe Kim was even born.

Seven World Championships and 67 World Cup starts later, in which she jumped on the podium eight times, the four-time Olympian who placed sixth at the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games eight years ago, has decided to open a new chapter.

“Looking through all my photos, I wouldn’t change anything. From trips to Japan, New Zealand, Korea (before 2017), Europe, Finland, Sweden, South America and more.

I traveled with teammates who loved getting in the halfpipe, we dealt with injuries along the way and partied hard. I have the best of friends all over the world now because of my choice to snowboard, for that I’m thankful and grateful for each and everyone of them,” the 34-year-old wrote on her website.
