Sepp Schneider ends his active career as a Nordic Combined athlete. As the Austrian Ski Federation announced, the 26-year-old from Egg in the Bregenzerwald has to retire due to health issues. Schneider started in 26 World Cup events and on the Continental Cup tour. His biggest successes were a third rank in the Team Spring and a fourth place in an individual event in Val di Fiemme in 2015, three starts at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun and other Top Ten results. 

Schneider’s career was interrupted by several knee injuries and the following surgeries as well as two virus infections.

“Unfortunately I have to end my career due to health reasons. I have always worked my way back after the knee injuries but due to two virus infections, which heavily influenced my training, I was not able to close the gap to the best anymore. This is why I have decided to end my career at this point. I’d like to thank the ski federation, my partners and sponsors, who have accompanied me during all those years as a Nordic Combined athletes. I am looking forward to a new period in my life now.”
