Ski jacket becomes holy relic
Pope John Paul II is set to be made a saint and therefore his past possessions become holy relics. One is a black ski jacket.

Pope John Paul II was a keen skier and one of his jackets is on display in a US school that bears his name.

Pope John Paul II Highschool is in Henderson, Tennesse.

It was given to the school by the Vatican while he was still alive and is on display at a special exhibition in the school.

The jacket will become a second-class relic once he is canonised.

A first-class relic is an item such as a lock of hair while a second-class relic is something once owned by a saint.

It is believed by some that praying near the relic brings a person close to the saint.
