A monument in honor of Nikolai Guskov, the first owner of an Olympic medal in a history of Nordic combined in Russia will be opened in Petrozavodsk.

Nikolay Guskov, born in Petrozavodsk in 1934, won the Olympic medal in Squaw Valley.

The monument opening ceremony will take part on 18 September and it is timed to the Olympic torch relay which will go through this city.
