Lindsey Vonn says she had successful surgery on her right knee, posting a photo of herself snuggling with her adopted dog, Leo, on her Facebook page Wednesday.

"Resting with loved ones and of course my cuddle buddy Leo. So thankful to have such great people helping me. Will update more later. Xo Lindsey"

Leo, too, has a bum knee after being hit by a car when he was a puppy. She adopted the 9-month-old dog last week.

A statement issued by her publicist Lewis Kay on Wednesday, said, "Lindsey Vonn underwent successful ACL reconstruction surgery yesterday. Dr. Jim Andrews performed the procedure and expects her to make a full recovery in time for next year's World Championships in Vail, Colorado."

Vonn announced on Jan. 7 that she would not compete at the upcoming Olympics because of the MCL sprain, coupled with the torn ACL. She is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2014-15 World Cup season.
