Deborah Anthonioz retires
The 35-year-old rider from Les Gets has announced to quit competitive snowboarding.
“Debo” kicked off her World Cup career back in 1996 as alpine snowboarder when she competed in GS in Tignes, France.
Now, after more than two decades of traveling the world, the last member of the generation “Karine Ruby” has stepped back from active racing leaving the playground for her younger team mates.
Anthonioz raced a total of 88 World Cup events amassing 13 podium finishes including four wins.
In her long career, she also represented her home country at six FIS World Championships with a sixth place in Whistler, Canada, in 2005 (rank 6).
Although she didn't jump on the podium at the worlds, the three-time Olympian, who had to deal with various injuries over the past winters, did so at he Vancouver Olympic Winter Games where she earned Silver.
