Oberstdorf wants to host WSC 2021
After various unsuccessful bids in the past years, Oberstdorf now wants to apply for hosting Nordic Ski World Championships again in 2021.
"After the rejection last year we gave it a lot of thought and had intensive discussions, whether or not another bid would make sense. Finally, especially the positive feedback we received from the international winter sports family encouraged us to give it another try. Oberstdorf and the DSV still enjoy a great reputation as organizer of major sports events in the world of skiing. That's why we are confident, that we will get the chance to welcome the world's best ski jumpers, cross country skiers and nordic combined athletes at World Championships in Oberstdorf again in 2021", said Dr. Franz Steinle, president of the German Ski Association (DSV), in a media release.
The mayor of Oberstdorf, Laurent Mies, is happy about the decison to file another bid: "Oberstdorf and nordic winter sports simply belong together. This was again impressively confirmed by the great World Cup events this winter."
