Study groups visit Falun 2015
Members of the Lahti 2017 and Seefeld 2019 Organising Committees, the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Organising Committee as well as numerous representatives from FIS Nordic World Cup Organisers are currently visiting Falun (SWE) during the 2015 Championships to view the installations and to develop an understanding of the infrastructure, organisation and quality necessary to deliver such a large event.
The Study Groups can take advantage of an extensive and detailed programme which includes lectures, guided tours around the venue as well as specific workshops. Due to the high demand for the programme, the Study Groups have been split into smaller groups and will carry on through to the end of the Championships.
“We are happy to pass on the knowledge that we have built up over the years. The Study Groups at the previous World Championships in Val di Fiemme 2013 were very important for us (the Falun 2015 Organising Committee) so we hope to provide a similarly useful experience for future Organisers", Katarina Medveczky, Falun 2015 Communications Director, stated.
The Study Group programme, introduced by FIS, promotes an on-site learning experience and establishes networking opportunities between current and future World Championship and Olympic Winter Games Organisers. It is part of the overall Transfer of Knowledge programme which also involves gathering of facts and figures, sharing of information and exchange of know-how during the preparation and execution phases.
