Drammen City Sprint for 11th time
Preparation for the FIS Cross-Country World Cup sprint competition in Drammen on 11th March 2015 are on schedule just a week before the top athletes descend on the city for the popular sprint. The only city sprint on the FIS Cross-Country World Cup this season is celebrating its 11th anniversary.

During this time, Drammen hosted ten sprint competitions downtown and in 2011 organized two-day World Cup competition at Konnerud; home of the organizing club.

The course starts at the Market place, City center of Drammen. It rises up the lawns around the Bragernes Cathedral, descends between City Hall and the Fire Station, through the Market place, around the fountain and statue commemorating Saint Hallvard, where it climbs to the finish line in front of the Cathedral stairway.

The Organizers have produced 6000 m3 of artificial snow at Konnerud, which will be transported by 200 trucks to the city center. Norwegian Cross-Country fans will have a chance to cheer on their heroes as both sprint gold medalists from Falun Marit Bjørgen and Petter Northug jr. will start in Drammen.

On Tuesday, 10th March the venue will host the traditional kids race – Barneskirennet as well as the finals of the regional youth competition – Ungdomssprinten. “The OC is well prepared and we are looking forward to once again host the city sprint in Drammen,” chief of the OC Arne Madsen said to FIS Cross-Country News.
