Pascal Egloff ends his career
Pascal Egloff of Switzerland has decided to end his ski jumping career.
"It's time to go. Maybe it has been for a while, but now I'm also ready to quit", the 22-year-old wrote in an email to his family, teammates, coaches and sponsors.
"There are different reasons for this decision. The most important one is that I finally want to begin my studies. Because I'm not a guy who likes to do things by halves, I never wanted to study besides the sport. Another aspect is the lack of success in the past years. At some point I noticed that I won't be able to make it to the world class. Although I was always motivated and made progress, it was not enough", the Swiss continued. "I have met incredible people all over the world and it hurts the most not to see them that often anymore. So many ski jumpers and trainers were and still are friends and I’m going to miss you all!"
Pascal Egloff, who wants to start studying economics in Zurich this fall, was competing in the World Cup from 2009 to 2015, the last time about a month ago in Willingen (GER). His best result in an individual competition was a 33rd place in Sapporo 2014.
