Updates from FIS Alpine Courses Sub-Committee

Less than one year ago, Elena Gaja was appointed the Chair of the Sub-Committee for Alpine Courses. Ahead of the upcoming Calendar Conference in Varna (BUL), Gaja visited the FIS Office in Oberhofen (SUI) to prepare for the Sub-Committee meeting and report on a busy year.

Since the FIS Congress last June in Barcelona (SPA), the Committee received 364 homologation and re-homologation applications. These requests were assigned to 43 different inspectors and after the completion of the necessary criteria 344 new homologation certificates were issued.

With the hectic winter season over, Gaja and the rest of the Committee are now turning their attention to the upcoming meetings in Bulgaria followed by what is sure to be a busy summer dealing with more than 50 homologations that are still open and new applications in the pipeline.

“It was an intense season, and while it is nice to have the winter season over, the ‘walking the green grassy courses’ will be more than enough to keep us occupied during the summer months,” said Gaja. “I’m first looking forward to the Calendar Conference in Bulgaria to report our progress and make plans for the upcoming winter.
