Telemark Updates
Ten delegates from the 13 countries which form the FIS Telemark Committee gathered during the FIS Calendar Conference meetings in Varna (BUL). The Committee had a full agenda featuring items from the livestreaming project to a continued Olympic Winter Games inclusion strategy. Emphasis over the past two seasons has shifted towards improving the attractiveness and youth appeal of the sport.

The Committee’s main business was to establish a strategy to continue with the successful video livestreaming project commissioned by the Committee in Zurich (SUI) last year. The project enabled live footage to be aired across the globe and attracted 21% of German viewers on ARD placing ninth overall in the viewing stats for the day.

“It is clearly a strategy worth investing in” said FIS Telemark Chairman Andrew Clarke, “we are hopeful of finding a title sponsor this season so that we can build on this initiative and project our sport further”.

The Committee also discussed how Telemark will remain focused and dynamic, listening to the market, in order to stay in touch with the youth and set the conditions to prepare for future inclusion on the Olympic Winter Games programme.
