Leading FIS athletes inspiring people to get active on Olympic Day
On 23rd June, the Olympic Movement celebrated Olympic Day with a host of events designed to get people all around the world ‘off the couch’, join in the fun and discover new sports.
A number of FIS Athletes’ Commission members promoted the event on social media encouraging everyone, everywhere, to get active, including Chairperson Jessica Lindell-Vikarby, Vice Chair Mike Janyk and 2010 Aerials Olympic Champion Lydia Lassila.
Also, the FIS SnowKidz and FIS discipline channels went into Olympic Day mode.
For additional motivation, earlier this month, the IOC enlisted the help of a number of Olympians, including ski stars Lindsey Vonn and Kjetil Jansrud as Ambassadors for PyeongChang 2018 and Lillehammer 2016.
Marking the birth of the modern Olympic Games on 23rd June 1894, Olympic Day is an international effort to promote fitness and well-being next to Olympic ideals of fair play, respect and sportsmanship. Hundreds of thousands of people all around the world get active each year.
