Countdown to season's opener is on

Just like two years ago, the first two events of the new Snowboard Freestyle World Cup tour will be staged in New Zealand.

Cardrona Alpine Ski Resort, which has been part of the world wide contest series six times so far, will host a slopestyle (20th – 22nd of August) and a halfpipe competition (28th – 30th of August).

Both World Cup events are once again part of the New Zealand Winter Games, the biggest recurring sport event of New Zealand which is meanwhile held biennially.

As the most snowboard stars are currently down under to prepare for the upcoming winter the Winter Games NZ promise a star-studded field for both contests.

It all kicks off in less than ten days with the second ever slopestyle World Cup event in New Zealand.

However, as the men's finals had to be cancelled due to bad visibility two years ago, riders from all over the world are keen to finally go for the win on the purpose built course.

Official arrival day for the athletes is August 17th with training set for 18th and 19th.

Qualifications will go down on 20th with another training day for the finalists coming up on the 21st and the finals scheduled for 22nd.
