FIS Development Programme Leaders’ Seminar in Vilnius
The annual FIS Leaders’ Seminar was successfully staged last weekend in Vilnius (LTU) with a diverse group of more than 30 participants from 22 different nations.
During the full two days, the participants were treated to workshops on a variety of topics that will give them the tools to implement diverse programmes back in their home countries. Themes included: the financing of sport infrastructure, the structure of EU funding, sponsorship and integrity of sports.
The lecturers also came from all corners of the world and came from both within the ski family and outside the industry as well.
The opening speech was held by FIS Council Member and Chair of the FIS Development Programme Working Group Alfons Hörmann. FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis got in on the action, leading the session on Integrity in Sports.
The group also had time to explore the ski infrastructure with host Lithuania as they were treated to a tour of the Snow Arena, the indoor ski resort in Vilnius. Naturally, there was also time to explore the city.
“The Leader’s Seminar is the perfect chance to bring together people from different background and with different experiences and allow them to both learn and share,” said Sarah Lewis. “This year we had a diverse group that was very eager to learn and contribute both during the workshops and in the more informal settings.”
