Alessandro Benetton named President of the Cortina 2021 Foundation

The Italian Minister of Sport Luca Lotti, together with the Italian Ski Federation (FISI) President Flavio Roda and National Olympic Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò, has appointed businessman Alessandro Benetton to lead the Cortina 2021 Foundation.

"Alessandro Benetton is the right person for the Chairmanship of the Cortina Foundation 2021," Roda said. "His passion for Alpine Skiing cannot be questioned. He is one of the most important entrepreneurs that Italy has with a profound knowledge of Alpine Skiing and the Cortina region.

The announcement comes just in time for the bi-annual Coordination Group meeting scheduled in Cortina d’Ampezzo for 1st and 2nd June to review preparations for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2021.

Benetton is currently Chairman of the 21 Investimenti S.p.A., which he founded in 1992. He was the president of Benetton Formula One team, winning two World Championships with Michael Schumacher. He is married to the Alpine Skiing Olympic Champion and Italian skiing legend Deborah Compagnoni.
