FIS Development Programme Training Camp off to a positive start

On 9th July 2017, the FIS Development Programme Alpine Training Camp got off to a positive start in El Colorado (CHI). It is the 11th time, the camp has been organised in South America.

Through 29th July, 16 athletes from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico will train with experienced coaches from Argentina and Chile to prepare for the upcoming season. The programme involves intensive on-snow training, notably in giant slalom and slalom, and dryland sessions to focus on speed, muscular endurance and coordination.

In addition, the athletes benefit from video analysis and receive helpful advice on the preparation of skiing equipment.

On 27th and 28th July, the athletes will be able to showcase their skills by participating in the FIS Races in El Colorado where two slalom and two giant slalom competitions for each gender will be held.

Camp Coordinator Markus Malsiner reported: “Snow conditions have been excellent and we are very happy with the first days of training. We wish all camp participants much success and would like to thank the Chilean Ski and Snowboard Federation for their excellent support on the ground.”
