FIS Alpine World Ski Championships for the families

The next FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, the biggest event in the alpine skiing world besides the Winter Olympics, will run from February 5thto 17th2019 at Scandinavia’s largest resort Åre (SWE). The bi-annual competition will see eleven World Champions crowned in slalom, giant slalom, super-G, downhill, alpine combined and alpine team event.

For the upcoming FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, Organisers have made a concerted effort to make access to the event easier. especially for families. To achieve this, resort owners Skistar made the decision that “your lift pass is your entry ticket”. In addition, the resort will also provide free access for all children up to the age of eight and provide special viewing areas for people with a disability. The move emulates the actions of previous FIS Alpine World Ski Championship Organiser Vail-Beaver Creek (USA) who reported an excellent number of families enjoying the event.

FIS President Gian Franco Kasper commented „The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are an occasion to enjoy spectacular racing but also to enjoy the snow with the family. In order to facilitate easy access, the ‘your lift past ticket is your entry ticket’ is a laudable initiative to make it easy for families to enjoy the event and to inspire the new generation.“
