As the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 get underway in Val di Fiemme (ITA), Sweden’s Falun is getting ready to host this major event in two years’ time.

During the two weeks in Fiemme, the Falun House in the heart of Cavalese (ITA) will be a meeting point for the entire international skiing family, and an excellent way of getting to know more about the upcoming FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun 2015.

Situated at a square midway between the Press Centre and the Medals Ceremony site, Falun House will also be the venue for the official dinners entertaining sponsors of the Swedish Ski Association and Swedish companies that are members of the Beyond Skiing network supporting Falun 2015.

The Organisers of Falun 2015 will only just have returned home from Val di Fiemme before the Ski Jumping officials already leave for Örnsköldsvik. On 9th and 19th March, the 2015 Falun Organising Committee together with local clubs will be running the FIS Continental Cups in ladies’ Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined. These events are part of a comprehensive series of test events to prepare for the 2015 championships.

Commitment to Sustainability

Environmental work for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun 2015 has taken off in earnest. Recently Halvor Wøien, responsible for environmental work at the Oslo 2011 visited Falun to provide tips and information on sustainability issues in a one-day workshop. He covered a wide range of topics including contacts with sponsors and suppliers, waste management and cleaning and emphasised the significance of creating environmental awareness among all the stakeholders who are involved in the event.
