More than 6’500 events across 49 different nations and on five continents, the FIS competition season 2012/13 has almost reached its conclusion.

The final FIS World Cup of the season will be held over the coming weekend in Verbier (SUI) with the Speed Skiing season finals. It was a winter characterised with very good snow conditions mostly everywhere and positive vibes around the sport.

Among the multitude of events, the six FIS World Championships and four FIS Junior World Championships represented special highlights on the calendars of the different disciplines.

In the six FIS Olympic disciplines, a total of 21’091 athletes have competed in the FIS events at all levels, of which Alpine Skiing has represented the largest number (8’639). On the World Cup and World Championship levels, 3’399 athletes were registered, with Cross-Country Skiing featuring the highest number (849), followed by Freestyle Skiing (802) and Snowboard (723).

On site, no fewer than 709 Technical Delegates and more than 300 Judges have helped to conduct the races from a technical sports organisation perspective.
