Charity Golf to support Right to Play project
As one of the many activities and events held by FIS charity partner Right to Play to help children from some of the world’s most disadvantaged communities, a golf tournament was held on 3rd May in Bad Ragaz (SUI). The charity event was a great success and raised a total donation of CHF 110’000 for a development project in Burundi.

The considerable amount of money generated by registration fees, an auction and a tombola will flow into the sport and play programme for children with the aim to integrate Burundian returnees into host communities and sustain peace among the population from provinces of intervention.

The many players that came to the golf course not only supported the charitable cause, but also benefited from sunny skies and the possibility to compete with a number of prominent participants including Alpine Skiing legends Bruno Kernen and Marc Girardelli, as well as FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis, (note from her: who was lucky enough to play in a team with Swiss golf professional Roger Furrer that won the tournament – exclusively thanks to his performance ;-).

FIS and Right to Play established their partnership in 2005 to encourage the use of sport and play to support mutual goals of child and community development and health from within and through the sport of skiing.
