Vuori new President of Finnish Ski Association
The Federal Council of the Finnish Ski Association elected Jukka-Pekka Vuori as its new President for the upcoming two-year period in an election that was held in Seinajoki last Saturday, 18th May. FIS Council Member Matti Sundberg, who has served as President for the past four years, declined to run for another two-year term.

Jukka-Pekka Vuori is marketing and communications director of Fonecta, a directory services and media company. Vuori received 30 votes while his challenger Professor Lauri Kettunen from the Technical University of Tampere received 10 votes.

Newly-elected Vuori, who will begin his tenure on 1st June, thanked Matti Sundberg for his work, especially for bringing the 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships to Finland and for his efforts to improve the financial situation of the association. He named as his main goals the increased internal cooperation and re-establishment of the reputation and image of the organisation, whilst respecting traditions. "I plan to create a product family for ski sports, because currently our product is off. I will need all the help I can have for that," said Vuori. "My emphasis will be on team work and openness and on sharing responsibility amongst people who are experts in their respective areas. We will win or lose together."
