Filip Flisar - Member of the FIS Athletes' Commission
Slovenia’s ski cross crystal globe champion from 2011/12 has recently become a member of the FIS Athletes’ Commission. His winning surge and outgoing personality have earned him the fastest growing fan club on the circuit in the past years.

FIS took a moment to interview the moustachioed Freestyle talent:

How did you become involved in the FIS Athletes' Commission?

I was proposed as an Athletes’ Commission member by my National Ski Association and got excited after I thought about it for a moment. I knew it would give me a good chance to change some things in order to make the sport and communication between the athletes and FIS even better and easier.

What were the most important lessons you learned about FIS during the first meetings in Cavtat-Dubrovnik?

At the first meeting my focus was on getting familiar with the other Commission members. I was interested to hear about how it was working in the past and to see what we can change in the future. We have been able to set up a good working plan.

What do you foresee being your main areas of focus during the next two years?

My main goal is the development of a good communication system to operate inside the different FIS Freestyle “events” and then further between the Freestyle discipline and FIS.

How are you preparing for your life after sport?

I'm studying so I will have a lot of choices of what to do after my skiing career.

What other FIS discipline outside of your sport would you enjoy competing in and why?

It would be the speed disciplines in Alpine Skiing in addition to Freestyle ski halfpipe. I was already competing in both events in the past so it could be fun to measure my level of performance.
