Lillehammer 2016 to feature new FIS events
At the most recent Executive Board meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) held on 9th August 2013 in Moscow (RUS), the proposed 2016 Lillehammer Winter Youth Olympic Games Programme was on the agenda.

The IOC Executive Board has approved the following new and modified FIS events for the second edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games, which gives young athletes from all over the world their first taste of Olympic experience:

Cross-Country Skiing: Cross country cross (men and ladies )- Nordic Combined: Individual Competition 5 km (men)
The distance of the individual competition was modified to 5km (formerly 10km).
Freestyle Skiing: Ski slopestyle (men and ladies),
Snowboard: Snowboard cross (men and ladies)- Freestyle skiing / Snowboard
Team ski-snowboard cross (mixed gender) - Combined Sports: Nordic Team Event (mixed gender)
The Cross-Country Biathlon Team Relay (Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon) was replaced by the Nordic Team Event (Biathlon*, Cross-Country, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined) *subject to confirmation by IBU.
