FIS Athletes’ Commission: Julien Lizeroux

Julien Lizeroux, the French Alpine Sking technical specialist and winner of two silver medals (slalom and super combined) at his home World Championships in Val d’Isére 2009 has recently been elected to the FIS Athletes’ Commission. Born in Moûtiers, Savoie (FRA), the 24-year-old made his World Cup debut in 2000 and has claimed three World Cup victories next to placing nine podium positions. FIS Newsflash talked to Julien about his role on the Athlete’s Commission.

How did you become involved in the FIS Athletes' Commission?

I talked to the former Chair of the FIS Athletes’ Commission Kilian Albrecht who informed me about the elections during the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming 2012. I was interested, the French Ski Association put my name on the list and I got elected.

What do you foresee being your main areas of focus during the next two years?

I think athletes should be, and deserve to be, in the main line of all decisions regarding World Cup rules. I would like all athletes to be united and to be listened to by FIS.

Any message you would like to pass on to your fellow athletes as their representative within FIS?

We all have to work together and be united and the decision-making bodies will listen to us.

Words you live by?

Full power, respect, smiling

What other FIS discipline outside of your sport would you enjoy competing in and why?

Cross-Country: I would like to do the 50km classic to push my limits
Ski Jumping: Flying over 200m in Planica
Nordic Combined: Try to win a team World Championship title with my fellow countrymen in Nordic Combined.
Freestyle Skiing: Perform a halfpipe double flat spin back-to-back which could earn me an Olympic medal. :-)
Snowboard: Try an old style parallel slalom dual with my best friend Julie Pomagalski
Telemark: Do a run with the three Lau brothers
Speed skiing: Break the world speed record by racing 300km/h
