Based on the on-line system ADAMS (Anti-Doping Administration and Management System), WADA has published the Testing Figures from 2013.

In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code, the main focus is not to record high numbers of tests, but to carry out effective, intelligent testing.

WADA laboratories have analysed 6'439 samples in skiing and snowboarding in 2013 (including Paralympic disciplines). A percentage of 0.3 were reported as adverse analytical findings. Additionally 204 urine samples underwent additional isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) analysis based on a high T/E ratio value and all returned negative. 1'494 urine samples were additionally analysed for the presence of EPO. 143 blood samples were collected for human growth hormone (hGH) analysis and 27 samples for blood transfusion testing.

FIS collected 20% of the overall testing numbers in skiing and snowboarding, with 1'307 samples. Within these numbers, a percentage of 0.2 returned as adverse analytical, respectively atypical findings. Laboratories were asked to conduct IRMS analysis on 15 samples, EPO analysis was requested additionally for 554 samples. Blood collection numbers were 86 for hGH testing and 16 for blood transfusion testing.

WADA, which also conducts Out-of-Competition Testing has reported a total of 96 samples in FIS disciplines in 2013.

One of the main focus areas of the FIS Anti-Doping Programme is blood collection for the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) programme. Skiing and snowboarding can report a total of 2'240 blood samples, which is 11%of the total ABP testing in all sports worldwide in 2013. The overall ABP testing amounted to 23'877 samples, which is an increase of 31% since 2012. To compare with other sports, whereby the International Cycling Union (UCI) recorded 33% followed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) with 23%. Within these numbers, FIS has conducted a total of 1'605 ABP samples, 7% of the overall ABP testing in all sports and 66% of the overall ABP testing in FIS disciplines.
