The last season or not for Jason Lamy Chappuis?
Is he staying or is he going? This question was probably high up on the list of the present journalists at the French team presentations and press conferences at Pavillon Gabriel in Paris last Monday.

And Nordic Combined superstar Jason Lamy Chappuis did touch the subject of a possible career end: „After returning from Sochi empty-handed, I had the thought to quit but I also had a sense of unfinished business. I still have the drive to achieve big things. I don’t see myself stopping with it now. There is a chance that this might be my last season but I don’t have a deadline in itself. I would really like to end my career on a high note.“

He also gave some insights on what might influence his decision over the wintertime: „It depends on my results at Chaux-Neuve and at the World Championships. I’ll have to see in which state of mind I am after that. If I am tired and burnt out, it will be difficult. If I am grinning like a Cheshire cat, I will continue.“

Still, as the season 2015/16 does not have any championship events, it will be difficult to go out with the bang that Lamy Chappuis is hoping for, so the plan to continue until PyeongChang2018 might not be very attractive to the Olympic and World Champion. But how would more medals at the upcoming World Championships in Falun influence the decision? „If it will be another World Championship title with the team, that would be a good reason to quit.“
„And another individual title would be a reason to continue?“, one of the present radio stations asked. „There are many good reasons“, Lamy Chappuis grinned and concluded the press conference.
