Eighth annual IF Forum staged in Lausanne
The eighth annual SportAccord IF Forum concluded on Wednesday at Lausanne’s famous Beau Rivage Palace hotel where leaders in the international sporting world gathered for three days of lectures, workshops and networking.

November has become the traditional month where the International Federation family comes together to address the issues that are top priority in an environment that encourages everyone to engage, connect and discuss experiences gained in the last year.

Under the theme ‘Innovation and Technology’ participants were treated to experts discussing how best to use technology as the sporting world evolves, and how to stay innovative with events and communication tools.

FIS had a strong presence at the Forum that included a presentation the Virtual Area, which will make its debut at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun this winter by Emanuel Viklund, Head of Marketing and Communication at Ericsson that developed the technology.

FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis, who is also on the Steering Committee of the IF Forum said, “Every year the content and professionalism of the Forum is impressive and this year’s participants gained considerable knowledge. Technology and Innovation are two complex topics which are continually evolving. The scope of the sessions gave attendees insights into current technologies and even future innovations, alongside practical case studies from various events and International Federations.”

SportAccord is the umbrella organisation for International Federations both within and not included in the Olympic Games. Every year, the organisation hosts the IF Forum in November and the SportAccord Convention in the spring, which has become one of the biggest gatherings of the international sporting world. Next year the SportAccord Convention will become the World Sport and Business Summit held in Sochi (RUS).
