Statement regarding Vanessa-Mae

On 19 June 2015, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”) upheld the appeal of Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson, competing under the name Vanessa Vanakorn (“Ms. Vanakorn”), against the decision of the Federation Internationale de Ski (“FIS”) Hearing Panel dated 6 November 2014 (“the CAS Decision”).

As per the official World Cup rules, the athletes qualified for the City Event have to confirm their participation for an Audi FIS Ski World Cup City Event within 3 hours after the last race prior to the City Event. Are qualified to parcitipate, the 12 best atheltes of the slalom World Cup Start List, and the 4 best atheltes of the overall World Cup Start List.

Passing of Michael Sachs

FIS was saddened to learn about the passing of Michael Sachs (AUT) who died on Friday, 12th February 2016 after he collapsed in the finish area of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Crans Montana (SUI) two days earlier. Born in 1973, Michael Sachs has served as a team doctor for the Austrian ladies’ World and Europa Cup teams for numerous years and was a highly committed and appreciated person. FIS would like to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Michael Sachs.
Aerials World Cup to close out season in Minsk

With the recent announcement that this season’s scheduled aerials World Cup finals in Sierra Nevada, Spain, had been cancelled with no possibility for a replacement, Minsk (BLR), became the de-facto World Cup finals for the second season in a row, with competition upcoming this Saturday in the Belarusian capital.
