The Forum Alpinum for the 2016-17 season took place on Friday afternoon in Soelden as members of the race community and media gathered together for the annual event which also served as the official kickoff of the 50th anniversary year of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.

A FIS Development Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Training Camp was successfully held in Landgraaf (NED) from 10^th-14^th October 2016.

The site inspection, meetings and presentations are completed and now it is action time for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, as Lahti (FIN) was given two thumbs up from the FIS Coordination Group following the Final Inspection on Thursday, 13^th and Friday, 14^th October 2016.

Sierra Nevada (ESP) earned the green light from the FIS Coordination Group following the Final Inspection on 17^th and 18^th October 2016 led by FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis and the Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard Race Directors Joseph Fitzgerald and Uwe Beier and their teams together with the Sierra Nevada 2017 Organising Committee and the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation, SpainSnow.

FIS, together with the AIJS and the Organising Committee in Soelden (AUT), is pleased to again invite all interested media to the traditional FIS Forum Alpinum on the eve of the start of the 2016/17 Audi FIS Ski World Cup opening races.

The FIS Development Programme Summer Camp for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined was held in Rasnov (ROU) from 26^th September- 2^nd October 2016.

Race Director Lasse Ottesen has been in a period of inspection trips to the venues of the upcoming 2016/17 winter season and everywhere

During the FIS fall meetings in Zurich, the Norwegian Ski Association presented the concept for a new competition series, that will be held at four different locations in Norway, the RAW AIR.

With the clock ticking towards the start of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017 in St. Moritz (SUI), the Final Inspection was held on site at the Swiss resort.

During the first day of the FIS Technical Committee Meetings in Zurich (SUI), the FIS Development Programme hosted a workshop with the theme ‘Introduction and Development of New Disciplines’.
