ORIS meetings underway

Since the beginning of May, FIS professionals in each discipline and FIS IT staff have met with IOC experts in Montreux (SUI) to discuss the Olympic Results & Information Services (ORIS) for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

The ORIS system is based on a consultative process between the IOC, the International Federations and the Organising Committee to ensure timely results and Games information is geared to meet the needs of the global media broadcasting and reporting from the Games.

The meetings offered a chance to exchange and brainstorm to help optimise processes based on the experience gained from previous editions of the Games.

While the Freestyle/Snowboard meeting focused on harmonising the disciplines in the shared events of cross, halfpipe and slopestyle, the Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined meetings centred on enhancing existing procedures.

While May entailed the sessions for Freestyle Skiing, Snowboard, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, the respective workshops for Alpine and Cross-Country Skiing will be held in September.
