FIS has received the verdicts of the IOC Disciplinary Commission in two of the six cases against Cross-Country skiers relating to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. On receipt of the four remaining decisions, all six cases of Evgeniy Belov, Julia Ivanova, Alexander Legkov , Evgenia Shapovalova, Alexey Petukhov and Maxim Vylegzhanin will be reviewed by the FIS Doping Panel.

Two of the six cases were decided by the IOC today and both Alexander Lekov and Evgeniy Belov received sanctions for anti-doping rule violations. The decision can be found here. The other four cases’ decisions are expected next week.

The IOC’s jurisdiction is restricted to the Olympic Games and it is up to the International Ski Federation (FIS) to determine the consequences of the findings of the IOC for the period outside the Games including the FIS World Cup and other FIS competitions.

Once the verdicts in all six cases are announced by the IOC, the FIS Doping Panel will review these six cases verdicts and undertake the necessary steps within the competence of FIS, affording the athletes the right of due process with a personal hearing. The hearings and decisions of the FIS Doping Panel will take into consideration the impending FIS Cross-Country World Cup season which begins at the end of November 2017.

A further communiqué will be issued by FIS after these hearings and decisions of the FIS Doping Panel.
