IOC Commission Meetings and IF Forum this week in Lausanne

FIS President Gian Franco Kasper and Secretary General Sarah Lewis are currently in Lausanne (SUI) to attend meetings of the IOC Commissions which began on Sunday and the International Federations Forum that gets underway today, 8th November.

President Kasper is a member of the IOC Executive Board and Olympic Channel Commission, while Sarah Lewis is a member of the Olympic Programme Commission. Alongside the official Commissions, FIS is participating in numerous meetings of related bodies that are taking place, including the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) which will convene for the final pre-PyeongChang 2018 meeting, the Independent Testing Authority Advisory Group, the Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions, the Steering Committee of the IOC Sports Data Project and the Youth Olympic Games Advisory Committee.

IF Forum

Starting today, the 11th edition of the International Federations Forum is offering three days of targeted thematic sessions designed to be of specific value to the IF’s in attendance with the Forum’s theme being “International Federation Impact – Leading the way towards a Sustainable Agenda”.

The Forum will hear from distinguished speakers including IOC President Thomas Bach. FIS plays an active role in the programme with the Lahti 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championship featuring the Protect our Winters project presented by Janne Leskinen, Secretary General and introduced by Jenny Wiedeke, FIS Communications Manager. Secretary General Sarah Lewis will lead an interactive workshop session on climate.

The aim of the IF Forum is to provide an inspirational environment for IF Members to discuss key challenges as well as gain insights from sport and industry leaders.
