Today, 28 February, a press conference about economic issues of the Olympic Games has been held at Moscow.

“Investments in Sochi have a long-term effect - says the director of "Municipal economic development" department of the "Institute of the city's economics" fund German Vetrov. The positive effect on the future life of the city is doubtless. We should remember that investments in the Olympic venues is about 20% of the overall money spend". Due to his words at Beijing the sum of investments in infrastructure of the city increased the sum of investments into sports venues in 10 times. Chinese officials paid a lot of attention to the transport issues: about 70% of money was spent on buiding new roads etc.

"Anyway, it is very profitably to hold the Olympic Games. It gives the opportunity to solve many serious problems of Sochi in a period of 3-5 years."

Vetrov gave an example of Vancouver and London where a light rail built and several ringroads appeared respectively.
