Norwegian duet on the top spots at Slopestyle World Cup in Silvaplana
Big day for Norway at Slopestyle World Cup in Silvaplana (SUI) with Felix Stridsberg-Usterdud and Tiril Sjaastad Christiansen claiming the top spots. By winning the second and the final stop of the World Cup tour Felix took the lead in the general classification and finished the day with the Crystal Globe in his hands. For the ladies Emma Dahlstrom (SWE) proved that she is having an amazing season and by finishing second today she secured her first position in the overall standing.

It was the perfect ending for the World Cup tour with 4 days of beautiful weather and amazing slopestyle competition in Silvaplana-Corvatsch. Innovative course designed and built by Schneestern crew allowed riders to show their creativity as well as plenty of technical tricks.

“I love Silvaplana. It’s one of the best courses I have ever skied” – said Tiril who showed she is on the rise and with 90.80 score from her second run she overcame the favorite Emma by just 0.20 points. Coming back after the injury that took her out for almost whole last season she is back with the victory in Silvaplana, where she succeeded already two years ago.

Emma Dahlstrom took the second spot with what she claims was her safe run consisting of stylish back to back 540 on the jumps, mellow backflip off the hip and technical switch 270 transfer on double kink rail. While she couldn’t stomp any of her later attempts, we just can’t wait to see what she will bring in the next time. Christiansen on the other hand got her run locked down and went for left-side 540 followed by right-side switch 900, 450 off the wallride and clean rail section.

Young Johanne Killi (NOR) finished third with her first podium in just the second start at the Slopestyle World Cup. Her run of left 900, switch 540, 450 off the donkey tube and solid jibb line makes us believe we can expect to see more from her in near future.

One could also spot Lisa Zimmerman in Corvatsch Snowpark, who won the competition last year. Unfortunately due to the injury she had to withdraw and enjoy the weather and cheer her friends. We wish you a quick comeback Lisa.

In men’s competition Felix Stridsberg-Usterdud was the most consistent rider of the day as he would improve his score with every run. “ I tried to do spins both ways on rails and jumps. Second run went really good so I decided to step up in the last one” – said Felix after the finals. His top run with switch dub 10, switch dub 12 and dub 12 on the jumps and very clean and technical rail section got him high score of 93.20 points. With an absence of Gus Kenworthy and Joss Christiansen skiing with a broken arm and not making it into the finals, suddenly Norwegian rider also appeared as the winner of the Crystal Globe.

Next two spots went to Swiss athletes who showed their new talents in action. Andri Ragettli took home the second place with a very solid run and tricks like dub 12 and switch dub misty 12. He couldn’t avoid a minor mistake on one of his rail landing and he finished with 89.60. Luca Schuler rounded out the podium with 84.20. We reckon his huge dub 720 was one of the coolest tricks to watch today. It was also the first podium for the young Swiss rider.
