Austrian team starts with summer jumps
The Austrian team returned to the jumping hills with a first training camp in Rastbüchl, Germany. For this early stage of preparation, the focus was on all kinds of different jumps. Different suits and also ski lengths were used to give the athletes new impulses and train flexibility.
The afternoons were dedicated to ski roller sessions with new cross-country coach Jochen Strobel and technical training. Team leader and reigning World Champion Berni Gruber was happy with the progess and the new team of coaches: „The jumps start to feel really good again. Rastbüchl is a great place to start the season preparation. I am getting along really well with our new jumping coach Christoph Bieler, we have the same ideas about this are supposed to go and we work together very well. Jochen Strobl is bringing a lot of new ideas and fresh air in the cross-country part. It’s extremely fun to work with our new coaching staff.“
Head coach Christoph Eugen explained the basic ideas behind the training camp: „Especially at this point in the year, we wanted to give new impulses and go back to the basic jumps to regain the balance. It’s a good foundation to continue the work with the individual athletes after that. The new coaching team is working very well together and we complements each other very well.“
