FIS Rollerski World Cup got underway in Oroslavje
The FIS Rollerski World Cup kicked off on Friday 10th July with mass start competitions in free technique. Ladies’ race over 10 km was dominated by Marika Sundin of Sweden in the time of 19:16.8. Russia’s Ksenia Konohova took second only +0.3 sec back. Another Swede, Linn Somskaer claimed third +1.6 behind the winner.

Men’s 12.5 km mass start free saw a finish with seven athletes coming together. IN the end Norway’s Ragnar Bargain Andresen could celebrate victory as out sprinted two Italians Emanuele Sbabo and Sergio Bonaldi, who finished in 2nd and 3rd.

On Saturday, 11th July sprint free competitions were on schedule. Germany’s Kira Claudi was the quickest in the ladies competition. Marika Sundin of Sweden showed she has speed skills and finished in second place. Valiantsina Kamiskaya of Belorussia rounded out the podium in third. 

Victory in the men’s sprint was conquered by Italian Emanuele Becchis who beat Dmitriy Voronin of Russia and Norway’s Ludvig Soengen Jensen.

The competition programme in Oroslavje ended with uphill competitions in classic on Sunday, 12th July. Linn Somskaer celebrated a clear victory in the 7 km long race as the runner up Marika Sundin in 2nd crossed the finish line +1:01.5 back. Tatiana Jambaeva of Russia took third.
Oscar Persson of Sweden won the men’s race ahead of Ivan Solodov of Russia and compatriot Robin Norum.
