Dawid Kubacki new Polish Champion
After his two wins at the Continental Cup in Kranj (SLO) two weeks ago, Dawid Kubacki also presented himself in a very good shape at the Polish national championships on Saturday.
The 25-year-old posted the longest jump of the day in Wisla with 132.5 m in the first round and took the title with 127 m in the final and a total of 266.6 points.
"I knew, that I had the chance to win today. The second jump was not that good, but maybe it's a good thing that not everything is perfect yet and there are still some mistakes that I have to work on", the winner is quoted on the website of the Polish Ski Association.
The best performance in the second round was shown by Klemens Muranka with 128 m. But he was already too far behind half-time leader Dawid Kubacki and so he came in second at the end with his 261.6 points. The third place went to Maciej Kot with 126.5 m and 127.5 m (256.2 points).
Double Olympic Champion Kamil Stoch, fifth after the first round, could improve his performance in the final, but mit 125 m and 127 m he missed the podium by 2.1 points and finished fourth. He was followed by Piotr Zyla, who was en route to the podium after the first round in third.
