The leading Czech Cross-Country Skier Martin Jaks announced his retirement. Jaks is the bronze medalist from the Olympic team relay in Vancouver 2010 and U23 World Champion.

"My kids have been growing really fast and it has not been that easy to leave. I had had in my mind to retire already before the season, but I wanted to make the final decision this spring," Jaks said in the Czech Ski Association press release. "Shortly after I came back from Korea, our son was born prematurely and that was the thing that decided it," he explained. 

Jaks debuted in the World Cup in 2005 and he finished 5 times on the podium. In 2008 he became the U23 World Champion. In addition he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in the relay. Last season was one of the best for Jaks. He did well in the World Cup, FIS Tour de Ski and especially at the Olympic Games, where he finished twice in the top 10.
