Johann Andre Forfang: Comeback after injury break

Johann Andre Forfang, individual silver medalist and team Olympic champion in PyeongChang (KOR) last winter, is returning to the hill after he was sidelined for two months due to an injury.

This necessary break for the 23-year-old was caused by a hard landing in a training jump early August in Trondheim. "The conditions were awkward and I was very high and fell down very quickly. I landed far down at the hill size and strained my ACL. Since this landing, I felt constant pain in my knee", explained Johann Andre Forfang.

"Until recently I've always felt pain regardless of what I did and whether I was moving or not, especially when I was stretching my knee. Now is the second week that I'm not in pain anymore. I was nice to get together with the Norwegian national team in Trondheim and also to jump again and train with the team before the winter", said Forfang, who is taking part in a training camp of the Norwegian team in Trondheim this week.

Despite the long break, the athlete from Tromsoe in northern Norway hopes to have a good start into the season, similar to last year. In November 2017, Forfang started the World Cup season with the 18th place in Wisla (POL), but he was already on the podium a week later with the second place in Ruka (FIN). "I hope I can jump even better and I'll do everything I can to fight for the top again", said Forfang, who was seventh in last winter's overall World Cup.
