Sundby World Champion in 15km C

10'100 spectators followed up on the spectacular 15km C race on the 6th racing day of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld. Ongoing sunny weather and thus a soft track and warm temperatures added to the challenges of todays race. The reward however is nothing less than the title of the World Champion which Martin Johnsrud Sundby decided to his favour.

The newly appointed Martin Johnsrud Sundby (NOR) tried to hold back his emotions after the race as he could not believe what he just had achieved: "I did not think I was going to be this emotional in this kind of moment but it's been a long time coming so today I have made it together with a fantastic waxing team and some really great team mates and just people that believed in me for finally getting this one".

The second place was taken by Russian Alexander Bessmertnykh who lost only just +2.9 seconds to Sundby. Iivo Niskanen from Finland was the defending World Champion from 2017 in the 15km C. He completes the podium on the 3rd spot, +20.4 seconds behind Sundby.

Andrey Larkov (RUS, rank 4) and Didrik Toenseth (NOR, rank 5) fought closely for the podium, ending with only with +2.4 respective +3.9 seconds behind the podium.
