World Cup at Moscow in new format
World Cup competitions in parallel slalom at Moscow will be held in the new format on 23th February on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition center.

"On the Moscow World Cup the new competition format will be used. Athletes will not change the courses, it will be the knock out race from the very beginning. The event will become more spectacular and dynamic. It is not an Olympic format, but as far as I know it will be used in the future," - said Denis Tikhomirov, Head Coach of the Russian national Alpine Skiing Team, at the press-conference held at RIA Novosti.

Tikhomirov said that about 100-110 athletes from 20 countries are expected to take part in the competition. The world top athletes are among them. Russian national team squad has 24 athletes (12 men and 12 women).

"Many youngsters and talented-athletes have been included into the team squad. Nataliya Soboleva has a good chance to blast. But of course they should follow the experienced athletes, like Yekaterina Tudegesheva" - said the Head Coach.

Tikhomirov also evaluated the chances of Yekaterina Tudegesheva to win the competitions. She won the World Championships in the Parallel Slalom and is still competing for the first place of the overall World Cup Standings.

"After winning the World Championships she won't give up, it is in her nature. Her insights for the Moscow event is obvious - winning" - says Tikhomirov.

The opening ceremony of the event will begin at 18.00, local time.
