Freund claims victory in Falun as World Cup returns
The dust is only just settling on the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, where Freund helped Germany claim team large hill gold.
But there is no break in the action with Sweden holding it's first World Cup event in over a decade, the last one taking place in March 2002.
And it was Freund who would claim the top step of the podium, putting in the two best jumps of the event to take gold with a score of 266.1.
It was Freund's second World Cup win of the season and the result moved him fourth in the overall World Cup standings on 727 points.
Sitting atop those World Cup standings is Slovenian Peter Prevc on 988 points after he finished second in Falun.
Kamil Stoch of Poland is currently 17 points behind in second after finishing fourth in Sweden, while Japan's Noriaki Kasai is third after completing the podium in Falun – his 49th World Cup top-three finish.
