FIS Grass Ski Junior World Championships conclude in San Sicario
The junior elite of Grass Skiing competed from 30th July – 3rd August 2014 in San Sicario (ITA). Eight medal competitions in the events of slalom, giant slalom, super-G and super combined were on the schedule.

By clinching three gold medals and one silver, Chisaki Maeda (JPN) was the top star of her second Junior World Championship. Shortly after her 16th birthday the youngster took gold in super-G, slalom and super combined, along with silver in giant slalom.

On the men’s side Marcel Knapp (GER) was the best athlete of the event. The 19-year-old raced to gold in giant slalom and super combined and took silver in slalom. He now owns a collection of five medals from Junior World Championships.

Meanwhile, Austria (2 gold, 6 silver, 4 bronze) and Japan (3/1/1) were the most successful nations.

70 athletes from 12 nations participated in this year’s edition of the FIS Grass Ski Junior World Championships. Next year’s competitions will be staged in Stitna nad Vlari (CZE).
